It’s time to party!!

SoHo Taco has the immense pleasure of helping our buddy Joey celebrate the 6th anniversary of his wildly popular Proof Bar tonight in the epicenter of the Santa Ana Artists Village!

Our wonderful history with Proof Bar goes waaaay back.  When we were first trying to promote our gourmet taco cart catering service, Joey was gracious enough to let us set up in the back of his property a couple of times to help get the word out.

Also, Hazel over at Yelp OC was also super nice to let us partake in one of her extremely successful Yelp Elite events which took place at this highly acclaimed watering hole back in October of 2010.

And, now we’re set to make another return, but this time as a gourmet food truck!  Given our past successes at this location, we’re pretty sure this evening will be just as spectacular.

As a side note, we just had an exhilarating night at The Park @ Irvine Spectrum and it looks like the momentum is definitely going to continue.  Check out our pix below:

According to the Facebook Invite, you must RSVP in order to enter the festivities.  However, our gourmet food truck will be parked outside with free public access readily available throughout the night.

As for parking, it can be pretty tricky during peak hours and be sure to observe all meter laws.  So, allow for some extra time and you’ll be sure to find plenty of spaces in the vicinity.

Last week we had a great time feeding the hungry residents and visitors to the luxury complex.  And, the night was made even better since we were side-by-side with our buddies over at The Burnt Truck, seriously one of the best gourmet food trucks in Orange County!

The other day we here at SoHo Taco headquarters were surfing the web when we came across this little gem: we’re the #1 restaurant in Orange County! It’s true!

If you go to Yelp.com/OC and scroll down to the “Best of” section, there you’ll see under the category for “restaurant” is our truck’s derriere with our humble little company sitting in the #1 spot! Crazy, huh?

To be honest, we’re not entirely sure how we got up there. Sure, right now we’re EXTREMELY fortunate to be blessed with a 5 star rating. But, well, we’re technically not a restaurant (yet). And, the other guys on that list are incredibly talented and very popular. In fact, some have about 10 times as many reviews as we do!

Nevertheless, we’re immensely grateful for this distinction. This pretty much validates a lot of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes here and just shows how lucky we are to have some of the most talented men and women on board.

In fact, just like last time we were at this lovely venue, management will graciously open the neighboring Recreation Room so you can dine in luxurious comfort!

Although this is a gated community, the doors will be wide open to the public.  There will be plenty of complimentary parking and, of course, there’s no admission charge.

As a company, we have had the great honor of providing our signature gourmet taco cart catering at this venue several times for private functions.

Ahhh… good times!

It’s always great to be at The Park, but we also always feel so bad for torturing all the fine residents of the facility with the beautiful aromas!

So, now that we’re finally returning as a gourmet food truck, everyone can enjoy our gourmet tacos. Hooray!

Parking is complimentary and easy to access since it isn’t gated. But things may get a bit tight at certain times during peak hours. So, arrive early.

We’re super excited and can’t wait to see you there!

at OC Fair & Events Center (Costa Mesa, CA)

It hurts so good!!

For some, just looking at a picture of this traditional Mexican salsa will make them sweat!

Last night during our regularly scheduled stop at the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, we brought out one of our absolute favorite salsas, the legendary chile de aceite.

This sweat-inducing delicacy rarely comes out on the truck or on our taco catering carts and is technically a “special”, but it was made available as a complimentary condiment for our all guests for the evening.  That is, all of our guests who like spice!

To be honest, it isn’t that bad.  We’d say it’s a step up in heat from our green jalapeno salsa, but nowhere near ghost chili.  But, the key is to just dabble on a little bit, because a little definitely goes a long way.

In fact, if you’re a spice fiend, you’d LOVE this one.  Why?  Because it isn’t just spicy, but it’s smokey flavor really adds an enormous amount of breadth to our tacos.  In other words, it doesn’t just make you glisten a bit, but it truly does please the palate as well.  Just remember to use it moderately!

Sadly, it’s retired for now.  But, hopefully we’ll bring it out again soon.  Until then, we’ll just let the lead picture make you sweat.
