[W]hile tongues were wagging at a symposium last night, SoHo Taco had a few of them burning. Yesterday evening in Fullerton we had the great pleasure of being one of two gourmet food trucks – the other being the sublime Taco Maria – invited to help feed the hungry attendees of the conference hosted by Editor in Chief of OC Weekly, Hon. Gustavo Arellano. As we mentioned yesterday, we proudly served up two items that we specially prepared for the evening: a ‘barbacoa de res’ taco and our signature ‘chile de aceite’. Sure, the night air may have been on the icier side of the thermometer, but these special items definitely kept palates warm. Check out some of our pictures from last night: Our barbacoa de res taco is made of shredded beef which has been stewed and infused with classic Mexican flavors from our house salsa. And, our extra spicy chile de aceite consists of roasted chilis and spices on an a vegetable oil based sauce. Although we tried to warn some folks that a little goes a long way, it was soooooo good some guests piled it on anyway – with some very sweaty results. Ouch! Nevertheless, given the two outstanding menus between our friends at Taco Maria and that of our truck, it was definitely an unforgettable culinary night as well as an exceptionally cultural one as well. A big huge GRACIAS goes out to our compadre Gustavo for letting us be part of this incredible night. We definitely look forward to sharing more special items with him and everyone else again very soon! Please click above
