But now and then a customer would walk up to us after a satisfying meal and say some pretty powerful, very profound words such as “These were the best tacos I’ve ever had.” And, that is exactly what we were told several times over yesterday at Irvine Lake!
In case you missed it, yesterday SoHo Taco had the great pleasure of participating in the 6th Annual Chili Cook-Off at Irvine Lake, a function benefiting the Silverado Childrens Center. Check out our photos!
Sure there was plenty of outstanding chili to be had, but the organizers wanted something a bit more substantial other than the sample sizes being offered. And, that’s where we stepped in.
Little did we know we would be getting such an overwhelmingly positive response!
In fact, we met some people that followed us to the event specifically for our food – and, if you’ve ever been to Irvine Lake, it’s a pretty remote area of The OC! Others wanted a quick bite to eat before chili-tasting and ended up returning several times.
But, perhaps the most humbling part of the day was the countless folks who took the time to come back to us to declare ours the best tacos they’ve ever had. Coming from a Southern Californian constantly bombarded by the ubiquitous Mexican delicacy, those are pretty powerful words. Thanks, everyone!
We also want to thank the organizers of the event, the Silverado Childrens Center and the hard-working staff of Irvine Lake for allowing us to be part of this spectacular day. And, most of all, we want to thank everyone who traversed the Santiago Canyon just to spend a part of their day off with us.
See you all again very soon!
