[Y]ou won’t find “glitz” nor “glamour” on any of our menus, but there was definitely plenty of it last Sunday!

Over the weekend we here at SoHo Taco had a terrific time videotaping a commercial for our taco catering services on a downtown rooftop with a stunning view of the Los Angeles skyline.

The reason why we chose to do this is because one of the constant challenges that we have is trying to show brand new customers and clients that having one of our taco carts at their special event can not only be absolutely delicious, but it can also indeed be upscale and even classy.

In order to help convey this message, we enlisted our close friend and up & coming filmmaker Jon Ryan Sugimoto to help direct a brand new commercial for us.

His film production company, Jon Ryan Films, has a vast amount of experience doing video spots for countless business and products.  And, lately his company has in fact been gaining a lot of traction in film festival circuit for his film short entitled Her.  Essentially, his work has been nothing less than astounding.  So, it made perfect sense to bring him on board.

Now as for our commercial, “JR” (as he likes to be called) imagined portraying a cool, jazzy and vibrant rooftop party as the setting for our shoot.  So, we all met last Sunday on the top floor of an artist enclave, invited several of our beautiful friends and had some of our best cooks manning the taco cart.

Filming took place all day long and well into the evening.  There were several shots taken of everyone having a great time, the breathtaking scenery and, of course, the mouthwatering food!  Speaking of which, in between shoots our hardworking tortilla maker Angelica was on hand to help make sure there was plenty of tacos with freshly made tortillas for everyone. Thanks, Angelica!

Now that filming has wrapped, here comes the hardest part: WAITING!! We know that Rome wasn’t built in a day so things like this take time.  (But oh the anticipation!)

Anyway, we want to thank everyone for taking time out of their busy schedules to help make this video a reality.  We realize everyone had several different things they could have been doing that day so we’re grateful to those of you who chose to spend it with us.

And, of course, a HUGE thank you goes out to JR for his upcoming masterpiece!  Knowing that you were at the helm we already sure it’s going to be one of your finest works.  In the meantime, someone alert the Academy! 😉
