[W]e received an absolutely incredible compliment the other day that we’ve been talking about here at SoHo Taco headquarters and so we definitely need to share it with you guys.

In case you haven’t heard, last Thursday night we had the great pleasure of grilling up some of our finest gourmet tacos for Gustavo Arrellano‘s book signing event at the Santa Ana Public Library.

One of the tacos that we served was our signature barbacoa de res, which you can see pictured above.  Essentially, it’s a tender cut of beef braised in our own special blend salsa and spices.  It’s not always on our menu, but when it is it often sells out quickly.

Dinner service started promptly at 5PM and was super busy until Gustavo started his lecture inside the library at about 7:30PM or so.  That’s when the place was cleared and basically only a few of us were out there enjoying the calm after the rush.

It was then when the security guard approached us.  Here we are all thinking, “Uh oh…. what did we do now?”  But, quite the opposite!

He approached Chris who was working the register at the time and told him, “I just had the barbacoa de res and I loved it.  It really brought back memories of when I was a kid in D.F. Thank you.” (D.F. stands for “Distrito Federal” another term for “Mexico City”)

We were speechless!

Of course, we thanked him for his kind words.  We adore every compliment we receive, but that one was truly more than we expected!

If you haven’t tried our barbacoa de res, we certainly hope to serve it to you very soon.  It really is one of our favorite “guisado” style tacos just bursting with complex flavors yet presented in small simple package.
