Happy Monday, everyone.  We just had an exhilarating weekend and we hope you did, too! Ours was filled with exciting catering events, including one at an ultra-hip, super green venue in Culver City that we’d like to tell you about.

Last Friday SoHo Taco had the pleasure of being selected to provide taco catering for a wedding at the surprisingly impressive Smog Shoppe.  One can easily pass up this nondescript event center zooming by on La Cienega and not think anything of it.  But, inside there are definitely treasures to behold.

Located in the heart of the Culver City arts district, this building once served as an automotive smog check and repair center in the 80’s.  Since then it has been wonderfully reimagined into on of the finest wedding and special event venues in Los Angeles.  And, what’s more it’s 100% solar powered!

Designers took extra care to make sure building materials were as environmentally friendly as possible and energy wise the building is entirely self-sustained.  Absolutely incredible.  You can read more about the interesting eco-aspects of the property on the official site.

Now, it’s one thing to build an impressive temple to Mother Nature, but it’s another to create a wonderful space fit for a sacred wedding ceremony and reception.  And, this place exceeds incredibly on both aspects.

For this special occasion, we started out the evening with some appetizing mini bean & cheese burritos as well as some simple yet satisfying quesadillas.  We also provided three types of aguas frescas to help wash it all down.

Then, we  grilled up our signature carne asada and pollo asado tacos for the hungry weddings guests.   And, we accompanied everything with our freshly made condiments and salsas.

It was an absolutely beautiful evening and we had a fantastic time.  We’d like to thank the newlyweds and their loved ones for letting us be a part of their special night.  And, we look forward to serving everyone again soon.
