Over the weekend we just had the great pleasure of providing gourmet taco cart catering for a beautiful wedding at another incredible special events venue in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles called Seventh / Place. Here are a handful of tips before you book this hot spot for your next fiesta.
Our crew had a terrific time and so far the feedback we’ve been hearing from the staff of the venue & the guests have been nothing less than amazing and positive.
So, if you’re considering booking this wonderful venue for your next special event or wedding let us give you some pointers on throwing a successful shindig at this location. It seems to be pretty new and not a lot of information out there so hopefully we can help.
#5 The Neighborhood: Remember, This Is Downtown Los Angeles
Let’s get one thing out the way, as beautiful and charming as this venue can be, Seventh / Place is located in the heart of industrial Los Angeles. So, expect lots of graffiti, old rundown buildings and a gritty ambiance.
But, don’t let that turn you away!
If you’re looking for a more “Boho” style wedding or event DIY, this is the perfect venue. Just know that beyond the property lines it isn’t exactly tree lined beaches or sweeping views of mountain ranges. This is the inner city and that literally can be part of the charm.
Of course, we had our thoughts wondering if our vehicles would be ok at the end of the night, but we had absolutely not issues at all. Of course that’s no guarantee, but from our experience the edginess of the area was a non issue.
#4 Where are you going to park your car?
The night we catered at this venue was a Sunday evening and across the street was some kind of promotion going on where folks were lined up for something, we’re still not clear on what it was. But, at around our arrival at 4PM parking was a bit tight around the immediate vicinity of the building.
For this occasion valet was available for many of the guests who didn’t want to deal with the hassle of finding a place to leave the car. However, there were plenty of public parking in the lot immediately next door for about $5.00 And, if your guest don’t mind walking a few blocks, there’s definitely some spaces in the area.
We’re not sure how things are on a Friday or Saturday night, but you can imagine those days are going to be a bit more challenging trying to locate free parking.
As for our catering vans, we managed to park in the back towards the back access to the property and we stayed there all night. It’s not a traditional space since we were probably blocking the alley, but we had not issues on a Saturday night.
#3 Make sure your vendors are insured
As a vendor for this lovely wedding we were asked to produce a Certificate of Insurance, which was no problem at all for us. SOHO TACO is fully permitted and insured to provide excellent catering services in L.A. So, we were able to whip up our documents in no time at all.
So, when considering a catering company, DJ, bartender, etc., for your next occasion at here be sure they’re able to show evidence of insurance.

It’s a relatively new venue so you won’t see too much information out there yet, but hopefully this is enough to get you interested in checking it out.
#1 Consider taco catering at your next Seventh / Place event!
Last Sunday night’s wedding reception was a testament to how perfectly snug gourmet taco catering works at this location. There’s a large outdoor patio area in the back that allowed our taco cart to fire up the grills and emanate their hypnotic aromas.
Guests were called table by table to the taco carts, ordered their food, dressed them up at the condiments and salsa bars and enjoyed their meals back inside. It worked out perfectly!

Sure, parking might be a challenge, but nothing to worry about. Just make sure your vendors are insured, know the proper contacts and you’re on your way to a successful event in DTLA.
