Last weekend we had the great pleasure of catering for a beautiful wedding the the premier event space of downtown Los Angeles called the Valentine DTLA and we had a terrific time!
Operated by wonderful folks at Marvimon, whose portfolio includes some of the hottest venues in Los Angeles such The Smog Shoppe, The Millwick and among others, The Valentine clocks in at 9,000 sq ft and is easily their largest offering.
To help give you an idea of all the fun we had that evening, here’s a quick video that we whipped up showcasing the good times:
Here’s the official description of the venue:
Easily entrenched in LA history, it’s clear this venue’s background is just as colorful as it’s exterior, which lends it it’s charm and allure.
For this occasion our taco carts were situated in the back patio or courtyard area where our skilled cooks were free to grill up a storm. From savory carne asada, to juicy pollo asado and much more we brought with us our premier package menu and the aromas permeating the vicinity was absolutely intoxicating.
Since there was some time between the ceremony and dinner service, we also had the opportunity to tantalize palates with our terrific selection of appetizers such as our Tostadita de Ceviche, Rebanadas de Uva, mini bean and cheese burritos and much, much more.
For this occasion we had a wonderful team of bussers, bartenders and cooks that swiftly make their rounds and served all 200+ guests quickly, efficiently and, of course, with outstanding customer service.
To help make service even more efficient we laid out all of our condiments and salsas on the table beforehand. Once guests approached their seating assignments, they were greeted with our creamy salsa de guacamole, pico de gallo, salsa roja, farm fresh onions, cilantro and limes. It was a beautiful and colorful showcase of the good eats to come.
Soon dinner service came upon us we were ready, willing and able to serve! On this evening the set up was similar to a restaurant situation where guest indicated their orders on a small sheet of paper which they passed to the busser. The busser then rushed to the kitchen to retrieve the piping hot orders and quickly returned to each table with large trays of tacos.
There are several methods we use serve large number of guests, like simultaneous taco carts, pre-making certain items and other techniques. This order taking method worked out pretty well for this location and set up and many of the guest were served quickly and efficiently.
In the end, dinner service went wonderfully as planned. We heard some great feedback from the newlyweds and their guests and we couldn’t be more thrilled.
We want to thanks the lovely couple for selecting SOHO TACO for their special day. We understand they had several choices for catering and we couldn’t be more honored to have been part of this momentous occasion.
We would also like to thank the wonderful folks at Marvimon for hosting and of course we couldn’t forget all the hard working cooks, bussers, bartenders & banquet captain. Your contribution to the success of the evening was immeasurable and greatly appreciated.
