Easily one of the most charming and intimate special event venues in Orange County, The Riverbed Farm isn’t your traditional wedding venue … but that’s part of what makes it great! This hidden treasure is a great place to tie the knot and we have the insider tips to make your upcoming special occasion a success.Last Saturday night we had the great pleasure of being selected to provide our signature taco cart catering for a lovely wedding at The Riverbed Farm. Given the feedback we received that evening it was another wonderful special occasion filled with great food, wonderful guests and a cozy atmosphere. Here’s a quick one minute video showcasing the good times we all had, check it out: Of course this isn’t your traditional hotel or church venue, so there were some things that we learned after catering here that hopefully might help you plan your upcoming shindig at this gorgeous spot in Anaheim. #5 This Is An Actual Working Farm!Unlike some other Orange County venues that used to be once-upon-a-time a place that grew agriculture years ago, this is still a working, breathing, living farm. According to their official website, the Riverbed Farm is a full functioning sustainable urban farm spearheaded by a partnership with the city of Anaheim and Control Air. Managed by Renewable Farms and worked daily by interns and volunteer community members, this inspiring venue actually grows the tastiest organic vegetables, fish and eggs year around! On the day we were there we saw countless rows of fresh produce being carefully grown, curious chickens wandering around among the guests and fish swimming about in nearby ponds. It was actually pretty awesome! Together they all added to the charm of the occasion. So, this would fit perfectly for couples looking for a down-to-earth (literally) look and feel for their nuptials. #4 This Hidden Gem Isn’t On The Main StreetAs you and your guests make your way to the farm, don’t drive too fast … you just might miss it! Sure the address might be on “Vermont Ave” but you have to go down an alley to reach the actual front entry way as seen in this satellite shot: In fact, this is probably the only sign post you’ll see before you turn into the alley: As for the alley itself, it’s a pretty good length. If you decide to park out on the streets and walk into the venue, expect a good 5 to 10 minute walk before you see the entrance. So, depending on the type of shoes you or your guests are wearing that might be something to consider. #3 The Floor Is Made Of WoodchipsSpeaking of footwear, here is another consideration as well: the floor is mainly covered with wood chips. Again, this really does add to the charm and down home feel of the atmosphere but it might be a bit challenging for those in high heals. On the evening when we were there we saw women in high heels maneuvering through the flooring trying to maintain their balance. Of course, it look like they were having a great time nonetheless. But, you can tell it was a bit of an effort for them. So in case you want to give your guests a heads up you might want to mention this in the invitation so they can decide what footwear to put on. #2 The Ceremony Might Be Next To The Food Service AreaPart of the appeal of having your wedding at the farm is the coziness and intimate atmosphere that comes with it. And, given its size just know that the ceremony and the food service area might be the same. This is especially helpful when you’re drafting the timeline and you’re trying to schedule the ceremony and the catering company’s set up time. On this occasion, the wedding ceremony was at 5:00PM, but we arrived a bit earlier at about 4:00PM to bring in the equipment and set up the cart. Once we were done, our crew took their break and kept noise to a minimum so we didn’t disturb the ceremony. Then, once the vows were exchanged break time was over and our crew stepped into action. The coordination and timing was flawless and worked out wonderfully. #1 This Location Is PERFECT For Taco Catering!Ok, this might not come as a shock given you’re reading this blog on our website, but we gourmet taco cart catering is ideal for this type of venue!
