Taco Catering With Aguas Frescas

Aguas frescas de Limón (L), Sandía (M) & Horchata (R) as served for a wedding at Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm earlier this month.

Happy TGIF! The day before the weekend is always the best part. It’s full of anticipation of the good times headed our way. And, after a brief period of rains over the past few days, the whole Southern California region is going to be all sparkly clean and even more beautiful. Good times!

Speaking of fresh waters, we just made several batches of aguas frescas ourselves for the various events we have planned in our beloved region.

If you’re not familiar with the term it literally means, well, “fresh waters” but it actually stands for the wonderful traditional beverages often served at Mexican parties for special occasions or “just because”.

They’re not only a great way to chase down some spicy tacos or a rich meal, but they’re also absolutely fantastic on their own.

The images you see on this blog post were taken of the aguas frescas that we served for a wedding up North earlier this month at the Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm. Sure, it was a stunning and beautiful occasion, yet these delightful beverages are just as enjoyable if we were to be taco catering for a birthday or company grand opening.

Gently pouring the Agua Fresca de Limón into the container while trying to not to lose one drop … not easy!

In the lead photo you see the our first Agua Fresca de Limón, which despite what it sounds like is actually made of lime. In Spanish, often the word “limón” is interchangeable between lemons and limes so it can get deliciously confusing. 😉

The one in the middle is one of our personal favorites, Aguas Frescas de Sandía, made of sweet ripened watermelon. More than just a sweet beverage, it’s actually extremely flavorful and flexible when pairing with anything on our menu.

Finally, the last but not least in that photo is our Aguas Frescas de Horchata, which consists of wonderful rice milk flavored with cinnamon for an earthy rich flavor that’s a common staple in meals South of the Border.

So, which one is better?! It’s hard to tell! They’re all so very good! For this event, we’re sure all the guests were happy to have three choices. Because it would have been a tough decision if they only had one to select from.

If you’d like more info on the wide selection of aguas frescas that we have available for private catering do not hesitate to contact one of our friendly event coordinators. They would be delighted to give your the thirst quenching information.

Also, now and then we do offer a selection or two on the food truck, especially on Tuesday nights at Cismontane. So, if you’d like to chase your ale and taco with something sweet and refreshing, be sure to make next Tuesday night down on your calendar.

In the meantime, have a terrific TGIF. We’re just about to launch into another weekend filled with special occasions and hopefully we’ll have the opportunity to serve you a tall glass of aguas frescas at one of them.

Buen provecho!
