Happy Monday, everyone! Your weekend was just as exhilarating as ours. From romantic weddings in the Temecula Wine country to graduations along the Newport Coast, our team was hard at work over the past few days and we couldn’t be more thrilled! So may special events and so many opportunities to share our wonderful cuisine with more folks.

One of the events we had the pleasure of catering was for a 70th birthday celebration at the Cerritos Library. We know, when you hear that we’re going to be celebrating at a book depository, several images come to mind… but this is no ordinary library.

Led by the masterful designs of Jim Nardini, AIA, of Charles Walton Associates, here’s a bit of background from the Library’s website on it’s look and feel:

“Direction from elected officials, staff research and suggestions from the community led to the idea of building a great library that would honor the past while embracing the future. A photograph of the spectacular Guggenheim Bilbao rising above the ancient streets of the Basque town provided the inspiration for finding the future in the past.”

For this occasion we were asked to cater for a celebration on the third floor Skyline Room of the Cerritos Library. And, since we have never served at this location before we jumped at the chance!

Yesterday morning our crew arrived bright and early in Cerritos ready to get the work started. We had to park the van on the side of the building and use a special service elevator we had to lift the taco cart up to the top floor.

It wasn’t easy, we had to take apart a few things and make a few adjustments, but were able to manage to bring the entire equipment and food upstairs.

Once we were situated out on the ledge of the Skyline Room, overlooking the Cerritos Town Center, our crew immediately started on the hardwork ahead.

We started off the festivities with a terrific selection of appetizers such as our Tostaditas de Ceviche, Rebanadas de Uva and Espadillas de Fruta. As we cranked them out one by one, the guests gobbled them up and had them wanting more.

Next up we grilled several of our finest tacos, such as our signature pollo asado, savory carne asado, juicy carnitas and succulent shrimp taco. And, all were served on a fresh hand-pressed tortilla.

It was definitely an eye-popping sight to behold, there we were grilling and pressing hand-pressed tortillas on the top floor of this stunning building for some of the most amazing people! It was truly an honor and a privlege.

And, of course we also had a terrific selection of side dishes to help round out everyone’s meals. For example, we had creamy black beans, fluffy lemon rice and fresh made tortilla chips on hand to help dazzle taste buds and fill bellies.

In the end, we were showered with compliments from “These were the best tacos I’ve ever had!” to “Can I have your business card?!” and everything in between.

We would like to thank the birthday girl for selecting SOHO TACO for her special day. We had an absolutely fantastic time and hopefully she did it. The pleasure of serving everyone was certainly all ours.
